So tonight I was making soap, and i decided to try a new combination. I love the scent and the fact that its soft! I'm sorry the pic is terrible, but here's what you'll need to make it:
1 c Glycerin (i used the melt and pour kind)
2 tsp Honey
2-3 pinches Ginger
1/4 c Shea butter
I used Glycerin that I had ordered online, You can buy it in the hobby section at most craft stores. I've seen it at Hobby Lobby and at Micheal's before. Cut off a big chunk of the glycerin, and a small chunk of the Shea Butter and melt it in the microwave in 30 second intervals, unless the packaging states otherwise. I use a plastic cup, i just wash it and reuse it every time i make soap. (I usually melt them in 2 different cups, follow package directions)
After the soap is melted fully, Stir it around. Add in honey and stir until its an off white/tan color. I like mine to be slightly tan, If its not reaching that color, you may need to add a little more honey.
once the honey is stirred in, add a few pinches of ginger and mix it in. I like to also add half a pinch to the mold i'm pouring the soap into, just bc it makes the soap look prettier ;p
Pour into mold, and let cool. Depending on mold size and depth, cooling times vary. I usually wait 30 minutes. Pop it out of the mold and enjoy! I wrap mine in plastic wrap until i'm ready to use them, after ive used it once though i typically leave it out in the shower or by the sink!
I've found that soap using fresher ingredients (such as the honey) lasts 3-4 weeks before losing any color or scent.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Here's a pic of what I made tonight. I used this recipe for 2 of the bars. The other bars in the picture are thyme, basil, and mint.
If you make it, Be sure to let me know how you like it!
